I started my first business back in 2012. As a complete newbie, I had no idea about website platforms, hosting or domains. These were terms I had heard in the past, but I had no idea why they were important and what they meant for my business. I was completely clueless when it came to choosing the best website platform for my business.
Can you relate?
When it comes to setting up your website, it can be pretty overwhelming to say the least, especially as a brand new business owner. With what seems like a never-ending list of website platforms, domain providers and hosting companies to choose from, it almost feels as though you have to close your eyes and pick something, simply so you can cross it off your to do list and start moving forward.
As much as this would be the easiest option, it’s not always the wisest approach in terms of what is best for your business. Over the past six years, I have tried out a number of website builders such as Wix, WordPress, Squarespace and Showit. I can say with confidence that Showit is by far the best website builder in relation to design and functionality.
What is Showit?
Showit is a drag and drop website builder. As a Showit user, there are basically two dashboards. The Showit dashboard is where you design the look of your site. This is where you can update website text, change colour palettes, font styles and the overall design layout for your website.
In addition, you also utilise the WordPress Admin Dashboard. The WordPress Admin Dashboard is where you can publish blog posts, activate plugins and if you have chosen the third pricing tier for Showit, install plugins.
In my opinion, the second pricing tier for the Showit subscription is more than adequate for most small business owners. This includes everything you need to securely host your website and blog. Showit also offers regular backups of your site so you won’t need to worry about losing work or manually saving every few minutes.
So Why Choose Showit?
1. Unlimited Customisation
One of the things which drew me to Showit initially, was the fact that you can customise absolutely everything. The dashboard is similar to using Adobe Illustrator, so you can simply drag elements around without the hassle of layout restrictions.
One of the things which really frustrated me with Squarespace, was that there was only so much you could do without the need for html code. I also found this was often the case with many WordPress themes. Design layouts were pretty much set in stone according to the theme you selected.
Not with Showit though! Whether you choose a premade template or start with a blank canvas, you are in complete control of how your website looks and where each element is placed. This makes customisation a breeze!
Want to add an e-commerce store feature to your site? You can do that too! I use and recommend Shopify Lite.

2. Responsive Design
A responsive website is an absolute must these days. People are using mobiles over laptops to access information now. Therefore the need for your site to look great, no matter what device your site visitors are using, is critical.
When you login to the Showit dashboard for the first time, you will see that you have the option to view the mobile and desktop designs together, mobile view only or desktop view only.
Although the actual design elements are the same for both the mobile and desktop designs (e.g. text boxes, shapes, icons, images etc.), Showit allows you to design each view (mobile or desktop) using a completely separate layout. This means that you can determine exactly what you want your users to see across every device.
You can literally choose which elements you want to appear on each device layout. There’s no need to stress about warped text or overlapping elements, you are in complete control! Your website will look great no matter what!
3. Built-In WordPress Blog
One of the many benefits of Showit is that you are still able to take advantage of the most powerful blogging platform around! This is where Squarespace and other website builders, such as Wix and Weebly, fall short.
Perfectly customised to suit your main site design, this feature makes it a win-win for bloggers who are ready to make an impact in the world of content marketing.

4. SEO Friendly Design
I am starting to realise more and more that SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) needs to be approached like a marathon, not a race. With that said however, Showit makes it easy for you to ensure that your site is optimised for Google and most importantly, your ideal client.
Each page within the Showit dashboard has an easy to locate SEO section where you can update page titles, meta descriptions, meta keywords and share images for your site.
5. Support Features
One more thing I love about is their amazing support. As an official “Showiteer”, you will receive access to a private Facebook group, live chat features and emergency support if your site was to ever go offline unexpectedly.
In summary, the Showit platform is adaptable to the needs of your business as it grows. In my opinion, this is something which other website builders cannot compete with. With hosting and an SSL certificate included in the subscription as well, Showit is a platform I cannot recommend highly enough. It has not only transformed my website but my business as well – I honestly couldn’t be happier that I found this incredible platform.
